It’s the end of the belt as we know it! We’ve moved on to a different part of Cape Town today for our last day’s shoot. We’re off the main road through the Stellenbosch wine region and shooting on a dirt road. We need a location that looks deserted and isolated and once again, South Africa’s Table Mountain provides a stunning backdrop. With a different model today (Joe), we’re pushing our ‘end of the belt as we know it’ concept to the limit. Firstly, Joe takes his spare fuel can from the back of his Land Rover and pours petrol onto a collection of now worthless belts. Having burned the belts, it’s time to get his shovel and prepare to ‘make a stand, and bury the belt’. Finally, in a symbolic gesture, he digs a grave at the crossroads and the belt is ‘dead and buried’. Long live the Schultz Strap!

Our first day’s shoot is based entirely on Blouberg Beach, with a fantastic view of Table Mountain in the background. And sure enough, as promised, the sun shines on the righteous all day! To demonstrate the whole new way of wearing a pair of mens jeans (i.e with the fly open and your pants on display!), the Schultz Strap gets its first ever public outing to a few raised eyebrows from the crew and appreciative glances from a couple of members of the public! With Marco well and truly on form and seemingly up for anything, we decide that recreating the ‘James Bond/Daniel Craig emerging from the sea scene’ from Casino Royale would make a great shot. As expected, Marco is undaunted, despite the rather cooler sea temperature of the Atlantic ocean. Fortunately, the shots look superb - good job really as the crew literally risked life and limb - just look at the height of the waves and the crew standing in the water (complete with expensive camera equipment and high-powered battery packs) on the behind-the-scenes shots.

Our first assignment for Schultz jeans and here we are in sunny Cape Town, South Africa…except it’s raining harder than it does in England! Undeterred after a 12 hour flight from Manchester via Heathrow, we are told to expect sunshine for the duration of our shoot days and to disregard the ‘inclement’ weather on our arrival. Having scouted around the Cape Town area for the rest of the first day (dodging rain clouds as we go…), there’s still no rest for the wicked as it’s casting time back at the hotel in the evening. Given that we’re promoting a new and exclusive range of designer jeans, there’s no point in distracting customers with inconsequential clothing, so it’s ‘get your six-packs out, guys!’ Our choice of models is finally narrowed down to Marco and Joe.
